Steps for Sight Challenge

For the 166 individuals on our Operation Sight waiting list, taking even a single step with cataract impaired vision can be frustrating. You can extend your sight giving abilities and help these 166 patients see again, without ever entering the operation room. All you’ll have to do is take a few steps.

Alan Crandall Wins Chang Humanitarian Award

Endowed by a generous gift from David and Victoria Chang, the ASCRS Foundation Chang Humanitarian Award has been established to honor and recognize outstanding humanitarian work with a focus on cataract blindness and disability. Alan Crandall, MD, embodies this purpose with his extensive humanitarian work both in the U.S. and abroad. The award will be given to Dr. Crandall at the 2018 ASCRS•ASOA Annual Meeting in Washington, DC.

Former U.S. Senator Tom Coburn, MD, Joins the Board

The American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) Foundation welcomes former U.S. Senator Tom Coburn, MD to the Foundation Governing Board, effective immediately. Dr. Coburn will join a 14-member board overseeing a domestic and international program agenda that now serves more than 23,000 needy patients annually. Dr. Coburn will be officially welcomed to the board at its next meeting in November 2017.
