As immediate past president of the ASCRS Executive Committee, ASCRS members know Robert Cionni, MD, The Eye Institute of Utah, Salt Lake City. In addition to his volunteer leadership, Dr. Cionni has been a dedicated ASCRS member for more than 27 years. He is a leading authority in refractive cataract surgery, pioneering some of the most advanced cataract and implant techniques.

Run for Sight Celebrates 5 Years

For the last four years, Matthew Wesson, MD, [Tupelo, MS] has awoken very early on the Sunday morning of ASCRS’ Annual Meeting. Before the sun is up, rain or shine, he laces up his running shoes and heads out to do something good for his health, and for those in need.


ASCRS Member Volunteers to Change Lives for the Better

Jeffrey Whitman, MD [Dallas, TX], believes doing good for others is a winning proposition. And he lives every day of his life embracing that concept.

Dr. Whitman was born in Dallas, attended Hillcrest High School and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Southern Methodist University. He earned his M.D. at Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, and also completed his internship at the same institution. Dr. Whitman completed his residency training in ophthalmology at Scott and White Clinic in Temple, Texas.
