DigiSight Telemedicine Study Shows Promising Results

In the winter winter 2016, the ASCRS Foundation and DigiSight partnered on a new telemedicine pilot program in Nepal. We are excited to share with our supporters the promising early results.

The partnership uses the Paxos Scope technology for smartphones, allowing anyone with basic cell phone camera skills to produce quality anterior and posterior segment imaging. The technology is portable and low maintenance, making it an ideal solution for the developing world and remote areas.

Operation Sight Wins Award & Announces National Sight Week

Cataracts are not just a medical issue in developing countries. Here in the United States there are neighbors in our communities who are uninsured – or underinsured - and cannot afford care on their own. These individuals may rely on others to complete their daily tasks, and if left untreated, risk complete vision loss.

Former U.S. Senator Tom Coburn, MD, Joins the Board

The American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) Foundation welcomes former U.S. Senator Tom Coburn, MD to the Foundation Governing Board, effective immediately. Dr. Coburn will join a 14-member board overseeing a domestic and international program agenda that now serves more than 23,000 needy patients annually. Dr. Coburn will be officially welcomed to the board at its next meeting in November 2017.
