Nominations Open for 2019 Chang Humanitarian Award

The time has come again for us to celebrate inspirational work being done by your colleagues in ophthalmology to mitigate the plight of cataract blindness and disability.

We need your assistance to find worthy candidates who demonstrate a commitment to service and volunteerism. We're looking for those ophthalmologists who are doing exceptional humanitarian work to alleviate needless global blindness. Bring Operation Sight to Your Medical Program

Small steps can have the greatest impact. This is what Keri Allen, MD – an ophthalmology resident at the Univeristy of South Carolina School of Medicine's Palmetto Health Center – discovered when she spearheaded the launch of Operation Sight at her residency program in 2016. Earlier that year, Dr. Allen heard about the program at an ophthalmology meeting and immediately contacted the ASCRS Foundation for more information. 

Announcing National Sight Week October 14th-20th

Operation Sight is the ASCRS Foundation's U.S.-based charitable cataract surgery program. It involves a nationwide network of ASCRS volunteer surgeons who provide care to those unable to access or afford surgery on their own. Since its launch in late 2014, Operation Sight has delivered over 2,600 free cataract surgeries.
