A sincere thank you to the volunteer surgeons and staff members who made our 3rd Annual National Sight Week a success. Hundreds of U.S. patients are seeing clearer thanks to our volunteers and donors. We appreciate the incredible work you have done to provide charitable cataract care either directly through your practice or as part of an Operation Sight partner organization. A full list of the participating practices can be found on our blog.
Operation Sight was launched by the ASCRS Foundation four years ago to meet the needs of U.S. patients living and working right in your own communities. Through Operation Sight, the ASCRS Foundation has created a national network of volunteer ASCRS members who give their time and expertise to treat needy cataract patients who have no other option. The program has seen an exponential growth in volume, with nearly 3,000 free cataract surgeries provided to date.
While National Sight Week is only one week, the Operation Sight program runs year-round. Consider volunteering or learning more at ascrsfoundation.org/osvolunteer.
If volunteering is not an option, you can still extend your impact as a sight giver – beyond your practice – with a gift to the ASCRS Foundation. For example, your gift of $250 before the end of the year is all that’s needed to provide an Operation Sight surgery in 2019 to one of the almost 200 patients on our waiting list: www.ascrsfoundation.org/donation.
