The time has come again for us to celebrate inspirational work being done by your colleagues in ophthalmology to mitigate the plight of cataract blindness and disability.
We need your assistance to find worthy candidates who demonstrate a commitment to service and volunteerism. We're looking for those ophthalmologists who are doing exceptional humanitarian work to alleviate needless global blindness. Do you know an inspirational individual or organization that merits special recognition and support?
We are thrilled to open nominations for the 3rd annual ASCRS Foundation Chang Humanitarian Award. Founded last year with a generous endowment from David & Victoria Chang, this award was created to honor important humanitarian work in the field of cataract blindness and disability, whether domestically or across the globe.
The winner will receive the award at the 2020 ASCRS Annual Meeting, and a $50,000 prize will be granted in their name to a charitable ophthalmology organization of their choice.
Here is what you need to know:
- You can find more award details and the application online. Nominations are open now, and the deadline for submissions is 5pm ET on Sunday, September 15th.
- Full eligibility criteria are described on the website. Self-nominations are not accepted.
- A nominating committee appointed by the ASCRS Foundation will review all eligible applications. The committee will choose 3-5 finalists from which the ASCRS Foundation Board of Directors will select the winner.
- The award recipient will be announced in January 2020, and recognized at the Opening Session of the 2020 ASCRS Annual Meeting in Boston, Massachusetts.
